Absence Management

Absence Management

Every business and organisation has to cope with staff absences. This can be planned, such as maternity/paternity leave or sabbaticals; or unplanned, such absences stemming from sickness or injury.

Whatever the cause of the absence, an understanding of management techniques and statutory legislation can greatly reduce inconvenience and losses to productivity. Well managed interventions, for example, can reduce sickness absence by up to one third.

We have practical, hands-on experience in this area and have achieved quantifiable results from our solutions. Our input will ensure you comply with obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act and we can bring on board a range of partners who can offer specialist occupational advice, if needed.

We will
•     work with you develop Return To Work interviews and/or design a range of reasonable adjustments to ease an employee’s return, e.g. after a long absence
•     implement appropriate and robust monitoring systems to help you identify persistent short-term sickness absence issues
•     help you set expectations with employees on reporting absences – such as who calls whom, and when.
